These private lessons are offered to build relationships with your dog, fix behavior issues, problem solving, aggression, fear, and accelarate training advancement. This focus on YOUR dog also helps with pet therapy training, canine good citizen prep, and snake and poison proofing (included in Puppy and Novice Obedience classes). We strive to help your dog become a valued member of your family, and live their entire life in your home.

Private lessons are very helpful for fine tuning your dog for competition related issues. Private lessons are also useful to perfect the skills you learned in class, and to prep your dog for competition events.

Foundation Class: Puppy

Puppy class is where the foundation for a life time of training is formed. Acoma's puppy class brings to dogs softly into learning how to fit into a human family. They learn not to jump or bite.

Owners are given instruction on how to housebreak a puppy and to teach them not to be destructive. Basic commands of sit, down and come are taught. Puppies learn not to pull on the leash. Also, information is given about grooming, nutrition, types of safe toys ect. Puppies learn how play Frisbee and ball.

Snake proofing and poison proofing are part of this class to keep puppies safe. After graduation puppies can return for free snake proofing for the remainder of their lives.

Foundation Class: Puppy Fun

Puppy Fun class is a puppy version of our Agility class. It is for puppies of all shapes, sizes and temperaments. This class builds great confidence and major enthusiasm in a puppy as well as building a great foundation for real agility. This is a real Acoma favorite!

Foundation Class: Novice

Novice class is for dogs six months and older. Our classes are big by design to teach dogs to listen and to react in any environment. Basic foundation commands are taught including sit, sit stay, down, down stay, stand, stand stay, come with the finish.

Problems such as jumping, barking, digging, aggression and extreme shyness are addressed as well. At Acoma Training Center, problem dogs are always welcome.

Snake proofing and poison proofing are included in this class to keep dogs safe. After graduation dogs can return to Acoma for free snake proofing in a class environment for the rest of their lives. Graduates of this class also get 4 free class session in another class at the same level.

Advanced Classes: Advanced Novice

Advanced Novice is where people can polish their novice work with their dogs. It is a continually running class that dogs can participate in indefinitely. We believe that all dogs deserve a day out with their owners. This helps both to maintain a high degree of proficiency in training. Advanced dogs in all areas use this class to continue to excel and learn. We offer 4-week classes in Advanced Novice, but also have an Advanced Novice Drill (please call for requirements to attend the drill)

All Levels of Rally

A class that teaches your dog up to 30 different skills that are taught as a numbered course. This is an AKC competitive sport.

This is a competitive sport class that teaches your dog to distinguish between the scents of essentials oils in many different environments.

Advanced Classes: Beginning Agility

Acoma teaches agility for fun and for sport. Our clients participate for the pure fun of companionship with their dogs as well as to successfully compete in agility of any venue including AKC, USDAA, NADAC, and ASCA. Basic Agility teaches owners and dogs all the agility obstacles and beginning skills.

Conformation Classes - All Levels

Acoma's Conoformation class prepares owners and their dogs to successfully compete in conformation shows. We stress training, physical and mental conditioning, and good sportsmanship.

AKC CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Test Prep

This class will cover and allow us to practice each of the 10 test items. We will also cover the equipment allowed, and what behavior is acceptable for each test.

• The AKC CGC title can be the first step in your dog's Obedience career
• Therapy Dog orgnizations usually acknowledge a dog's CGC title as an initial qualification toward becoming a Therapy Dog

The actual test is not part of this class, but is offered about a week after the class ends for those wanting to participate.

Obedience with Distractions

In this class, we perform many of the same Obedience tasks taught in Acoma's Beginning Novice and Advanced Novice classes, but we do them with unusual circumstances, both sight and sound.
